Misiurewicz points for polynomial maps and transversality

چکیده
The behavior under iteration of the critical points of a polynomial map plays an essential role in understanding its dynamics. We study the special case where the forward orbits of the critical points are finite. Thurston’s theorem tells us that fixing a particular critical point portrait and degree leads to only finitely many possible polynomials (up to equivalence) and that, in many cases, their defining equations intersect transversely. We provide explicit algebraic formulae for the parameters where the critical points of all unicritical polynomials and of cubic polynomials have a specified exact period. We pay particular attention to the parameters where the critical orbits are strictly preperiodic, called Misiurewicz points. Our main tool is the generalized dynatomic polynomial. We also study the discriminants of these polynomials to examine the failure of transversality in characteristic p > 0 for the unicritical polynomials z + c.

Rational Misiurewicz Maps for Which the Julia Set Is Not the Whole Sphere
We show that Misiurewicz maps for which the Julia set is not the whole sphere are Lebesgue density points of hyperbolic maps.
متن کاملRational Misiurewicz Maps Are Rare Ii
The notion of Misiurewicz maps has its origin from the paper [10] from 1981 by M. Misiurewicz. The (real) maps studied in this paper have, among other things, no sinks and the omega limit set ω(c) of every critical point c does not contain any critical point. In particular, in the quadratic family fa(x) = 1 − ax 2, where a ∈ (0, 2), a Misiurewicz map is a non-hyperbolic map where the critical p...
متن کاملOn cusps and flat tops
We develop non-invertible Pesin theory for a new class of maps called cusp maps. These maps may have unbounded derivative, but nevertheless verify a property analogous to C. We do not require the critical points to verify a non-flatness condition, so the results are applicable to C maps with flat critical points. If the critical points are too flat, then no absolutely continuous invariant proba...
متن کاملPeriodic Points of Latitudinal Sphere Maps
For the maps of the two-dimensional sphere into itself that preserve the latitude foliation and are differentiable at the poles, lower estimates of the number of fixed points for the maps and their iterates are obtained. Those estimates also show that the growth rate of the number of fixed points of the iterates is larger than or equal to the logarithm of the absolute value of the degree of the...
متن کاملOn Stability of Forcing Relations for Multidimensional Perturbations of Interval Maps
In this paper, we show that all periods of periodic points forced by a pattern for interval maps are preserved for high-dimensional maps if the multidimensional perturbation is small. We also show that if an interval map has a fixed point associated with a homoclinic-like orbit then any small multidimensional perturbation has periodic points of all periods. Dedicated to the 60th birthday of Mic...
